We were doing pretty good so we thought for the potty training but we went away for one afternoon and now she is pooping in the house again. It is very cold now though maybe its that? this is our first puppy we’ve had to train. Please help.
First off, Dont go to pet smart. They use that Purely Positive CRAP. Anywho, get a crate that will be large enough for her stand up and turn around in comfortably when she is an adult. Then block it off to make it that fit that way for how she is now and no bigger. Puppies do not like to mess where they sleep. Put her in there, when ever she cannot be watched, at night, at work, basicly whenever, you cannot be there to not let her out of your sight. DONT use the crate as punishment. You want her to happy in the crate. It will be her ‘den’. Take her out a few min. after every meal, every drink of water, after a hard play session, when she get up, when she goes to bed, and every 3-4 hours (yep, even at night) pretty soon she will get the idea and let you know in her own way that she has to go out. This may be whining, scratching at the door, barking, sitting at you feet and starring at you, nudging you with her nose. Anything, soon you will realize her sign and what it means.
Labs are NOTORIUS for chewing and digging. Be sure to have PLENTY of rawhides, kongs, and indistructable toys to stimulate her mind. If she gets bored, SHE WILL FIND SOMETHING TO DO. Again, the crate comes in handy when you cant watch her.
Start obediance training now. Keep sessions short and fun.
Make sure you keep her WELL exercized. Labs are very intense dogs, that especially as pups (which can be untill the age of 3) will NEVER quit. Swimming, running, fetch, and playing with other dogs is very good in wearing them out

take her to puppy school. they have classes at petsmart. but if you do not have one, check other pet supply stores in your area- worked wonders for me and my puppy. – as for the pooping, take her outside after eating to go potty. (i mean go with her on the leash) and walk around and tell her to potty. if she doesnt go, bring her back in and put her in her kennel (if you do not have a cage for her, INVEST in one. – they have ones that can grow in size along with your pup) for 10-15 min and take her out again. repeat over and over until she poops. pups have to poop after eating…

It’s not the cold it’s just that she got confortable to poop in the house. Everytime you see her smelling around and walking to places where she had pooped before, pick her up and take her outside. Stay with her until she is done. When she is, praise her. Keep doing this, but as days go by try to leave before she’s done that way she knows she can do it all by herself. And it also helps because she’ll know to warn you next time she needs to go.
Also try and take her when:
-she’s done eating about 10 mins after
-she done playing
-before she goes to sleep
-when you wake up in the morning
-after a nap
and other times she looks like she’s got to go
it helped with my puppy hopefully it will help with you good luck

This is the method I used with my cairn terrier and I have had great results (he is 2 years old now).
Buy a small bell (about the size of a golf ball) and either hang it from your door knob, or if you have a glass door, you can suction cup it to the door. Every time it’s time to go outside (to play or potty), take the dogs paw and hit the bell and then say your command (ie, go potty, do your business, etc). When you are outside, continue your command until the dog goes to the bathroom, and give immediate praise (some people give treats, we opted out of that, but it is OK to do it).
We got Toby @ 9 weeks old and by 11 weeks, he was ringing the bell on his own. The bell gives the dogs something to associate going outside with, other than a still object such as a door. (Remember Psychology– Pavlov’s dog? Same principle.).
As far as other training, be consistent! Use treats as a reward for good behavior, and a firm voice for bad behavior. Stubborn dogs are best taught in a class, whereas more submissive dogs will be willing and able to learn at home. If they do something wrong (ie bite, chew on something they shouldn’t etc), firmly lay the puppy on it’s side, and hold your hands on it’s front shoulder and rear leg. Speak to the dog firmly in it’s face and repeat, "no, or bad dog". This tells your dog that you are the alpha and that they are to be submissive to you (have you ever seen an alpha dog run up to another dog? Typically they will lay on their side while the Alpha "sniffs" things out. Same principle). Always keep in mind that you are to always train immediately following the bad behavior. Your dog will not remember 5 minutes ago, and will not understand your yelling and submission hold. Hope this helps– this is what we did with our dog and we had great results.

rub her nose in the poop (well not rub it put it close enough for her to smell) tell her no and tap her on the nose…it may seem mean but its just like punishing children she gets over it just dont beat her thats a big no no!! if shes paper triained slowly pull the paper to the door then she will get the point of going outside
my new lab puppy was just the same as soon as the cold kicked in we had to start all over but he got it within two days!!oh and when she goes outside just give her a little tiny treat, until she really starts to get it
