    *remember when you …
*remember when you take your dog to run off leash you MUST walk with him..going on adventures with him is a great way to bond. Unless he is a hound he will stick right with you. some dogs tend to stray farther than others but they will always check up on you with a little time.
Good Ideas to earn respect- Making him sit before going out the door..(go out in front of him). Never leave food out..have him sit and make eye contact with the dish in front of him before he can eat.

    It sounds like you …
It sounds like you have respect issues. Walking into the dog is a dominate gesture and helps with the jumping. walk your dog ON HEEL* to earn his/her respect. Respect is everything to a dog..either they trust you or they don’t..and if they don’t trust you your probably going to have problems. If your dog is hyperactive and won’t stop jumping take him into the woods or some were you can let him run off leash. Off leash time is very important you can never exercise your dog enough by just walking.

    This dosen’t work. …
This dosen’t work. you have to walk into them standing very tall and saying OFF in a very stern commanding voice. Walking in a dog’s space is a dominate reaction.-Trust me I work with a dog behavoralist. If the dog gets a negative reaction he will stop jumping. Using your knee will only work on some dogs.

    This method will …
This method will not solve the problem, you need to teach an incompatible behavior to avoid this problem. Many dogs will jump up on a person b/c it gives them self gratification. Any attention, (including negative attention) you give them at the moment they jump is good enough for most of them.

    The guy knows what …
The guy knows what hes talking about. Its not like you hurt the dog, like he said, “knock it off balance.” dogs are uncomfortable when something touches their belly and they dont expect it. if your dog does it again, knee it again. duh
