Dogs have to be trained by necessity. Any person who goes ahead and buys a dog as a pet, needs to know that it is their responsibility to provide this training. The training doesn’t have to be long or extensive and most dogs have a fun time with it. No matter what the case, there are various training tools and products available you can work with.

If you get one of these, for example, an electronic dog training collar, you’ll see better results in a shorter amount of time. This collar was surrounded by controversy from the moment it was made available to the public. On one end, some people claim it’s one of the collars that gives the best results when teaching obedience and discipline to dogs. Other owners thought it was a form of punishment and that it was unnecessary cruelty being used on dogs.

From a simple look, one wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the electric dog training collar, and a normal dog collar; the only way to see the difference is to see up close the two steel prongs that the electric collar has. These must be in direct contact with the dog’s skin in order to work. And just like a regular collar, the electric dog training collar comes in different sizes and colors, so you can choose one that looks nice for your dog.

Does The Electric Dog Training Collar Hurt?

So the biggest issue that owners have is whether or not this electronic dog training collar is actually going to hurt their dog. The simple answer is no, it is not going to hurt your dog. It does use an electrical shock to scare them but the jolt is not enough to actually cause any damage. So, basically it’s up to you to decide whether you want your dog to be corrected this way or not. If you find that you don’t want your dog to be subjected to electrical shocks, no matter how mild they are, you can choose a different type of dog collar.

For instance there is the citronella dog training collar which is similar to the electric dog training collar only it uses a simple spray of citronella to stop the dog from barking, rather than an electrical shock

As with everything, every person will have his or her own different point of view on what is acceptable and what isn’t when it comes to dog training. Regardless of the collar you select, you need to invest some time training your dog personally.
